The Person’s Sensation of Daydreaming is Induced by Ayahuasca: Why is this so?

Originally, I thought I would see only an explosion of colors, but instead saw powerful and meaningful visions of memories from my childhood. My state of mind went from being perturbed to feeling peace and happiness after a few hours. According to Emma Thelwell in an article on the BBC Portal, she has been experiencing some effects from taking ayahuasca.

A study published in the journal “PNAS” reported several accounts about the concoction’s effects. The question arises: why do people experience hallucinations in this way? One of the main active compounds in ayahuasca, called mate, has been studied extensively by specialists from Imperial College London to understand how it affects brain function and the worth of ayahuasca for sale.

Brain Overactive

The ayahuasca plant is a widely known source of ayahuasca. Banisteriopsis caapi and Psychotria viridis are the two major roots used in this blend. The general effect of this drink is to overactivate neurotransmitters in the brain, elements that allow information to be transmitted from one neuron to another. These transmissions are responsible for the brain’s functions related to pleasure, memory, joy, and enjoyment, among others. Ayahuasca then causes the brain to be over stimulated, causing it to act in a more amplified manner.

By dramatically activating certain neurotransmitters in certain brain regions, ayahuasca affects specific functions. The person begins to perceive and react to stimuli that are not necessarily in the environment in which he finds himself; this is the reason he experiences an altered state of consciousness. According to Daniel Borja Tovalino, a neurologist and professor of Medicine at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH), the experiment starts to evoke memories of the past as well as feelings of pleasure, enjoyment, and joy.

Similarly, to a baby, Ayahuasca can also improve the ability to perceive the world around them; that is, capturing the external world more easily through the senses. The increase in cognitive abilities and the enhancement of mood function and affect have also been observed.

Waves Altered

An Imperial College London study focused on the effects of ayahuasca’s active compound, dimethyltryptamine (DMT). It had a similar effect to that of marijuana. This natural chemical caused an increase in beta waves, the brain’s dominant electrical frequency. The effects of this natural chemical may result in lowered levels of alpha waves. There was also an increase in theta waves related to dreams, but this only lasted for a short while.

Lead author Christopher Timmermann explains that the changes in activity of the brain accompanying DMT are not the same as those seen with other psychedelics such as psilocybin or LSD, which mainly result in reducing brain waves.

Benefits of Therapy

It is rare for buy ayahuasca tea users to become compulsive consumers, as opposed to other psychedelic drugs such as LSD. Because of this, cutting its consumption does not induce withdrawal symptoms. The expert states that scientists have studied these ancient drinks for their therapeutic potential in recent years.

Chronic depression can be treated successfully with ayahuasca. A study also indicated that this method can reduce drug and alcohol addictions, explains Borja.

In patients suffering from neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s, positive results have also been observed. A neurologist clarifies that aside from preliminary studies, there are no conclusive results, so the concoction should not be consumed.
