All You Need to Know About the Badminton Team

No matter how long you’ve been playing badminton, there are always new things to learn about the sport and the strategies involved. From understanding how a good serve can quickly and decisively end the point, to knowing the best way to approach each rally and what kind of shots your opponent will likely attempt in return, there’s always more you can do to improve your game! If you want to be part of our badminton team this year, here’s everything you need to know…

Our Story

If you like working hard and having fun, then you’ll love joining our team. The badminton team is open to students at all skill levels, as well as those who have never picked up a racquet before. We practice in an on-campus gymnasium and play intramural MBC2030 matches and games with other schools. Our team has players of various ages and athletic abilities, so don’t let your inexperience keep you from joining! We emphasize teamwork, leadership skills, respect for fellow players, and a high level of sportsmanship. You can expect competitive practices but we also make sure to include plenty of time for laughter and friendship. As with any sport, it takes dedication to be successful in badminton, but it’s worth it! In addition to being a competitive sport, playing badminton is also great exercise that provides cardiovascular benefits and helps develop balance, agility, coordination, speed, power and flexibility.

Our Mission

To not be too good for those games we get crushed in, and to crush teams who are better than us. To lose with dignity and win with glory. To become stronger, faster, wiser and more disciplined through badminton; a sport that knows no bounds of race, culture or creed. As Jay Z once said Losing is not an option. We will strive to make it an enjoyable experience by building strong relationships between teammates and fostering a competitive environment conducive to learning what it takes to be winners, but also losers. Our goal is for every member of our team to leave yearning for more:more knowledge about badminton, more work ethic towards practice, competition and improvement.

How To Get Involved

The badminton team is looking for new members. If you’re interested in competing with other schools, you should join our team. We practice on Mondays and Fridays from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at M-Field located behind Gentry Hall. Although competition is a big part of what we do, we’re also focused on improving our performance and are always willing to help you improve your skills too! We do a lot of fun activities during tournaments which usually occur over weekends; so make sure to sign up if you’re interested! If you have any questions or concerns about joining, please contact me at this email address. I hope to see you soon!

Why We Do It

There are several reasons we participate in badminton. The primary reason is to stay fit and healthy. It’s hard not to gain weight or at least let yourself go with no sports or physical activity in your life. This sport helps keep us toned and lean all year round, even during breaks from school, by keeping us active year-round. It also serves as a great way for members of both teams to bond and grow closer together on and off court as friends, teammates, roommates, etc. We hope that you try out our club so that you can see firsthand how fun it is! If you have any questions about our club feel free to ask anyone on either team! I will be happy to answer them and help guide you through the process. I hope that this has been helpful and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need anything else!

Who We Are

The badminton team is a group of dedicated, hardworking students who love playing badminton in their free time. We are constantly practicing and learning from each other as well as practicing outside of practices. When we aren’t training or competing, you can find us either in our rooms studying for upcoming exams or just hanging out on our free time with each other. Although it is more rare, we do go out and have fun together! If you are interested in joining us, please email our team manager at: [email protected] . There are only three rules when you join: 1) Be respectful 2) Be on time 3) Be yourself.
